How Outdoor Kitchens Minneapolis Works
Outdoor Kitchens Minneapolis plans and constructs backyard cooking spaces for homeowners in Minneapolis and its suburbs: full kitchens, grill stations, stone and porcelain tops, weatherproof storage, pergolas and roofs, and fireplaces or fire tables.
We plan every project around two facts of life here: a warm season that is short and busy, and a winter that tests every joint, pipe and slab left outside. So the first visit is about the site as much as the design. We study the soil and slab under the planned island, the way snowmelt runs across the patio each spring, the route a gas pipe or an outdoor circuit would take from the basement, the grill's distance from siding and windows, and how the sink lines will be emptied each autumn.
Then we sort out approvals. Gas piping, new outdoor circuits, water and drain lines, and roofed structures are usually permitted and inspected work, and the City of Minneapolis and each suburb have their own zoning setbacks. At the estimate we list the approvals the design will probably require and build the calendar around them. Before any digging, we submit a Gopher State One Call locate request, which state law requires at least 48 hours ahead, not counting weekends and holidays.
Our proposal spells out the footprint, each material, every appliance, the gas, electrical and plumbing scope, and the cost of each part. Work begins only after you sign off, and any change during the build is put on paper and approved by you before it happens.
How we work
- Islands set on a base designed for frost, not just a few inches of sand.
- Countertop and veneer materials chosen for freeze-thaw, not only looks.
- Water lines laid out so they can be drained and blown out each fall.
- Grill and fire feature placement checked against clearances and city fire rules.
- Roofs and pergolas designed for snow load and frost-depth footings.
- You pay for the scope you signed, and nothing beyond it.
